Checking into One Kensington Boutique Hotel, Cape Town
A beautifully restored heritage villa at the foot of Cape Town’s Table Mountain has us coming back for more. With its elegant guest rooms, tranquil gardens and retro-chic pool deck this boutique villa sure knows how to charm. We checked into Cape Town’s One Kensington Boutique Hotel and we’re still quietly obsessing over it.
Nestled in the residential Oranjezicht part of Cape Towns Gardens neighborhood the recently renovated One Kensington Boutique Hotel is a perfect blend of charm, luxury and contemporary elegance. Kloof Street’s ‘dining mile’ with vibey restaurants like Kloof Street House, Blondie and Our Local are all in walking distance while the white-sand Clifton Beaches and the V&A Waterfront are no more than a 15 mins Uber drive away from your doorstep.
The 10 guest rooms range from spacious 30m2 superior rooms to a 70m2 Penthouse Suite. Some rooms have views of Lions Head while others catch a glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean. All rooms are elegantly dressed and come with a king- or queen size bed, airconditioning, a writers desk, a stocked minibar (at a charge) and an en-suite bathroom with Charlotte Rhyes amenities. Three of the rooms have a private balcony.
Lush gardens wrap around the villa, offering cosy breakfast corners and lazy reading corners. Our favorite part is the gorgeous pool area (again, with sweeping views of Lions Head) that’s giving 70s Palms Springs vibes - finished with fringed umbrellas and lounge beds. There’s a bar too, serving local (rose) wines and light a la carte lunches.
