Gertrude Amsterdam
A brand new bistro-like restaurant and wine bar is bringing a bit of Paris to Amsterdam’s Oud-West district and we love all about it. Think tiny tables with vintage interiors, seasonal dishes and a handpicked wine menu. The cosy outdoor terrace right on the leafy Bosboom Toussaintstraat invites for some long, wine-filled summer evenings.
Whether its for a quick lunch catch-up or a long lingering dinner, Getrude is a warm recommendation. This newly opened restaurant with wine bar works around a seasonal menu that get’s updated regularly, which makes coming back even more fun. The menu is surprisingly short with around eight aperitifs and another eight mains - all small(ish) portioned which makes everything perfect to share. Compliments for the many meatless options (the artichoke with creamy lemon mayonaise is a winner) and to see that the handful of fish and meat dishes (like the mackerel with buttermilk or the caramel fish cookies) are sustainable. Getrude comes with a carefully selected and pretty extensive wine list - ask the staff which wines to pair with the dishes of your choice or just opt for one of the house wines which are EUR 25 the bottle.
Gertrude opens daily from 17:30 to late. From Wednesday through Sunday they also open for lunch.
