A look inside Octavia Casa - Mexico City
Set in a quiet part of Mexico City’s hip Condesa neighborhood, Octavia Casa brings soft minimalism to the capital with a dreamy six bedroom boutique hotel.
Octavia Casa is the brainchild of Roberta Maceda, owner of the aptly named Mexican home and clothing brand Octavia, who wanted to create an extension of her brand with a place that seamlessly reflects the brands vibe. The result is a sophisticated six room retreat dressed in soft earthy tones creating a peaceful and homely space to come back to after a long day of exploring.
The design is done by the acclaimed firm PPAA who gave the hotel its sleek teakwood-paneled facade, polished concrete walls and huge windows - allowing natural light to flow in every part of the house. Mexico City-based design firm Habitación 116 waved their magic wand over the interiors, complementing the minimalistic, raw interiors with light wooden materials, soft tones and furniture by local Mexican designers like Onora Casa and the ceramics studio Encrudo. Cotton bed linens come from Octavia Casa’s very own home line.
The six rooms are located on the two upper floors and either face the leafy courtyard or the street. Amenities include a kingsize bed, a Nespresso machine, a large walk-in shower and a small balcony. The larger rooms also have a seating area. As the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, breakfast is delivered by a nearby bakery and include fresh breads, pastries, jams and coffee.
Octavia Casa is for anyone seeking a quiet and stylish place to bed down in one of coolest neighborhoods of Mexico City, Condesa. A perennially cool area dotted with art galeries, al fresco restaurants and quality coffee bars. Neighborhood favorites like the Mexican eatery Amanda Manda, Cafe Quentin and the leafy Parque Espana are all within walking distance from the casa.
